Born and raised in Saint Paul and a Central High School grad, Alfreda Flowers has dedicated her life to helping others. She found her way to her current position as the Executive Director and founder of Family Values for Life after helping others for many years through other organizations. She is dedicated to her community and to building strong families.
Caring for others seems to be Alfreda’s calling. She was the oldest girl of 7 children, with one older brother, and has always taken on the responsibility of caring for her siblings. She married at the age of 18 and has 8 children and 9 grandchildren.
Alfreda was known as the “community mom”. She was a licensed daycare provider for 18 years, with her focus on single parent homes. It gave her the opportunity to provide a safe place for children to go. People were over all the time and she opened up her home to friends and family.
When her youngest child started 1st grade, it became apparent to Alfreda that she needed something different.
“I wanted to be able to be home with my children when they were out of school.”
