Former University of Minnesota basketball standout, Clyde Turner, has partnered with FVFL for the past two years along with his organization, PACE and Clyde Turner Educational Basketball Camp. His esteemed basketball camp ensures that Saint Paul’s east side boys and girls ages 8 thru 18 are learning more than just basketball for one week during the months of June through August.
Turner, a former fourth round draft selection of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, mission is not only to empower these youth with the tools for accomplishments on the court, but also to equip them with life skills that will help build their character and strength.
Turner, who stands six feet seven inches tall, is a presence to contend with as he shares his athletic, leadership and life experiences with his participants. That same authority is felt in the east side neighborhoods as petty crime decreases by a whopping thirty percent while these kids are engaged in his educational camps as opposed to wasting time in non-productive activities.
